Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
What services do you offer and what makes your practice different?
1
We provide individual & family therapy for children, adolescents, and adults across Connecticut, supporting a wide range of needs including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, parenting concerns, school-related stress, and life transitions. Services are primarily offered via secure telehealth, with limited in-person availability in Orange, CT.
What sets Transformative Therapy & Wellness Services apart is our depth of experience and the lens through which we approach care. Many of our clinicians are school social workers and clinicians by training, bringing extensive experience in both clinical and educational settings. This allows us to uniquely support children, adolescents, families, and young adults navigating school systems, behavioral challenges, and academic stress—while also providing strong clinical care for adults and professionals.
We combine evidence-based practices with a culturally responsive, real-world approach, meeting clients where they are and helping them build practical tools for lasting change. Our goal is not only to support you in the moment, but to empower you with the skills and insight needed to move forward with confidence.

What is an intake session and what can I expect?
3
Your intake session is the first step in beginning therapy. During this initial appointment, your clinician will take time to get to know you, understand your concerns, and gather relevant background information. This may include discussing your current challenges, personal history, goals for therapy, and any previous treatment experiences.
This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share what you’re hoping to gain from therapy, and begin building a comfortable connection with your clinician. Together, you will start to outline a plan for treatment that aligns with your needs and goals.
Do you accept insurance and offer evening or weekend appointments?
4
Yes, we accept most major insurance plans to help make therapy accessible to our community. This includes Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Husky (CT Medicaid), among others.
It’s important to note that many insurance plans include copays, coinsurance, or deductibles, which may impact the cost of your sessions. Some plans require you to meet a deductible before coverage begins, meaning sessions may be billed at the contracted rate until that deductible is met.
We encourage clients to verify their benefits prior to their first appointment. Our team is also happy to assist you in understanding your coverage and what to expect financially.
We offer flexible scheduling, including evening and weekend appointments, to accommodate busy work, school, and family schedules.
