Canei Adger, LMSW
Therapist
Transformative Therapy & Wellness Services, LLC.
Canei Adger is passionate about helping children and adolescents better understand themselves and develop the skills they need to navigate life’s challenges. She works with young people who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, or difficulties with communication and emotional expression.
Canei believes that every child has their own story, strengths, and way of experiencing the world. Her goal is to create a space where young people feel comfortable being themselves and can talk openly about what they are going through. She works with children and families to build greater awareness, develop healthy coping skills, and find ways to manage challenges in everyday life.
Her passion for this work comes from a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of children and families. Canei understands that seeking support can be difficult, especially for young people, and she strives to make the therapeutic process feel approachable and supportive. She believes healing is a journey and that having the right support along the way can make a meaningful difference.
Canei’s experience in social work has allowed her to work with children and adolescents in a variety of settings. During her internship with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families at the Albert J. Solnit Children’s Center, she provided treatment to adolescent males between the ages of 13 and 17 who were experiencing complex psychiatric and emotional needs. This experience gave her the opportunity to support young people during some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
Canei also worked with Wheeler Clinic’s Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPS) program. Through this family-focused program, she supported children and adolescents with significant emotional and behavioral needs who were at risk of hospitalization or residential placement, as well as those returning home from higher levels of care.
These experiences have shaped Canei’s understanding of how important it is to work not only with the child, but with the people and systems surrounding them. She values collaboration with families and believes that creating a strong support system can help children feel more secure and make lasting progress.
Canei is committed to meeting each young person where they are and helping them recognize that their challenges do not define them. Through patience, understanding, and consistent support, she works to help children and adolescents build confidence, strengthen their coping skills, and feel more hopeful about their future.
